Joe was born on October 20, 1955 in Decatur, the son of William (Bill) C. Hall and Dorothy Stach (Hall) LaMontagne. He married Carol Glover Tomlinson on June 2, 1997 in Decatur.
He graduated from MacArthur High School in 1973. He worked at ADM East Plant for 35 years as a Head Operator and Fill-in Supervisor. He was a dedicated employee, rarely taking time off. His fellow workers were considered good friends, especially Tom Gerk who became more like a brother for 30 years. Joe may not have attended a college, but had a “passion to learn” and self-taught by reading numerous books on subjects from Astronomy, to Physics, Engineering and Psychology.
He enjoyed mind puzzles, magic tricks, riding his Harley, canoeing, playing the harmonica, and the Blues in Central Park. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan.
A faithful husband of twelve years, he leaves behind wife: Carol, one son: Jay Carl Hall and fiancé Cassandra Drabing and two grandsons: Cameron Patrick Hall and Christian Michael Hall of Decatur. Father William “Bill” C. Hall and wife Sonnie. Mother: Dorothy Lamontagne of Hot Springs, Arkansas. One sister: Kathy “Kate” Scott and husband Rick of Decatur. Step-Brother: Rick Massey and wife Micky of Decatur. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and beloved three legged black cat: Snowball.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Warren and Dot Hall, and step-father: Earl LaMontagne.
The family would like to thank Tom Gerk and wife Rhonda of Decatur, and the 4th floor staff for their care and compassion.
We are so sad he was taken from us, but so grateful to have known him and had him in our lives.
