Joseph Michael Kinney's Obituary
Joseph Michael Kinney, 39, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away March 19, 2026.
Joe was born in Decatur on October 18, 1986, the son of Michael W. Kinney and Sue Fleming. He married Samantha Nash on April 4, 2018, in Decatur.
Joe was a truck driver for ADM. He had a passion for outdoor activities including camping, kayaking, and tending to campfires and fire pits. He was intent on becoming an expert at smoking meats. He was an avid fan of Mötley Crüe and the St. Louis Cardinals. Most of all, he loved his wife and children. He adored them and found his greatest joy in spending time with them. He was a kind, warm-hearted person who made sure his family knew they were loved. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Joe is survived by his wife Samantha; children Nolan Kinney and Camden Kinney of Decatur; mother Sue Fleming of Decatur; father Michael W. (Mary) Kinney of Decatur; sisters Sarah (Joseph) Hackert of Eureka, MO, and Emily (Daniel) Nelms of Ashland City, TN; stepbrothers Tony (Stacey) Etherton of Decatur, IL, and Adam (Jaymie) Etherton of Amherst, OH; his beloved dog Whiskey; his parents-in-law; several brothers-and-sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Joe. A private graveside service will be held. A Celebration of Life Open House will be from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, March 27, at Hostetler (241 N. Main St., Decatur, IL).
