Joy Ann Holman's Obituary
Joy Ann Holman 94, passed November 8, 2023 at Fairhaven Nursing Home. Cremation services provided by Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. As per Joy's wishes, there will be no memorial service but a celebration of live at a later date.
Joy was born July 15, 1929 in Harristown, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond Loren Burns and Jeanette (Demlo) Burns. She married Clarence (Spike) Holman on September 10, 1945 in Selma, Alabama. They are the parents of Randy H (David) Schmidt of West Lafayette, IN, Lloyd R (Jody) Holman of Decatur, David T (Peggy) Holman of Dalton City, and Barbara J (Holman) Sulwer of Decatur. They have nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Joy was a graduate of Decatur High School; worked as a unit secretary in the intensive care unit at Decatur Memorial Hospital, where she worked for over 27 years.
Joy and Clarence were married for 75 years before his passing in 2020. They enjoyed hosting events for their family and friends at their home. Their pets were a part of every event.
Survivors include all children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, one sister, Patsy Clayton of Mt. Auburn and one sister-in-law, Louise Holman of Decatur. She was proceeded in death by her husband, her parents and one sister.
