Joyce Joan Peoples' Obituary
Joyce Joan Peoples, 81, of Decatur passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015 in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Joyce was born on June 24, 1933 in Keysport, IL the daughter of Theodore and Martha Ellen (Harris) Hastings. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, knitting, and crafts. She loved her family and spending time with them. She married Robert L. Peoples on June 30, 1951 in Decatur.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; children Kathy Phillips (Tim) of Decatur; Michael Peoples (Sandy) of Decatur; Robert Peoples III of Decatur; Michelle Hackett (Doug) of Beason; sister, Judy Carr (Lyle) of Decatur; sister-in-law, Lorraine Wood of Palmetto, FL; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Paul Hastings, one sister, Barbara Davis, and one grandchild.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Fair Havens Christian Home for all their loving care.
Funeral service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be 11 AM Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in St. John’s Episcopal Church with Fr. Richard Swan officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Wednesday in the church. Private burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Episcopal Church or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
