Judith Ann Mason's Obituary
On March 7th, 2009 at 12 pm, Judith Ann Mason, 59, was set free and returned to the arms of her Heavenly Father. In the comforts of her own bedroom, she passed with husband Terry and sons A.J and Jonas at her side.
A memorial celebrating her life will be held at Woodland Chapel, 655 Airport Road, Decatur, IL at 2 pm on Saturday March 21, 2009. Following the service, the family will host a reception, also at Woodland. This reception will be held in place of a visitation. Guests are invited to attend one or both.
Judy was born September 13, 1949 in Marion, Indiana to Lois and Ronald Mullen. She married Terry Mason of Decatur on June 5, 1971. An employee of Decatur Memorial Hospital for 24 years, Judy was Director of Physician Services. Previous responsibilities at DMH included: Director of Marketing, Publications, and Special Projects; Director of Corporate Health Services; and Director of the DMH Life Center. A graduate of Stephen Decatur High School, Judy went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from Millikin University and Master’s Degree from University of Illinois-Springfield. Judy was a member of Moundford Free Methodist Church. She had served on the Macon County Mental Health Board, the YWCA board, PEO, and was a past-President of Junior Welfare.
Judy is survived by husband: Terry; sons: A.J. and Jonas; mother: Lois Schlieper; father: Ronald Mullen; sisters: Carol Bernard, Kimberly Mullen, Beth El Montgomery, and Terri Gonwa-Ramonda; mother-in-law: Freda Mason; The Wes Mason family; and the Jim Mason Family.
Prior to passing, Judy asked that a note of gratitude be extended to those medical professionals who all went above and beyond what was required in providing care for her: Dr. Baljit Deol, Dr. Edward Elliot, Dr. Gini Flemming, Dr. Jon Locke, Dr. Derin Rominger, and Dr. Steve Weber, DMH Hospice; and a special thanks to Dr. James Wade and all of the Cancer Care Specialists.
In lieu of flowers, Judy has asked that donations be made to The Thankgiving Basket Project, Woodland Chapel’s Great Banquet, and/or DMH’s new Cancer Care Center.
