Julia Rose Purnell, 75, of Decatur, IL. Departed this life on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Julia was born on July 28, 1942, in Grenada, Mississippi, the daughter of Henry Purnell Sr. And Charlotte (Barksdale) Purnell. Julia was a resident of Decatur for over 40 years. She attended New Hope Baptist Church in Grenada, Mississippi when she lived there. She loved God and cooking, singing, spending time with her family and reading the bible. She was fond of all her friends and relatives. She was a LPN in Mississippi. She loved to help people, especially the sick. And a hard worker.
Julia leaves to cherish her loving memories; her children, Glynis Purnell, Marvin Purnell, Lamon Purnell, Tracy Purnell, Melvin Purnell and daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Purnell; her brother, Henry Purnell, Jr.; grandchildren, Tatyana Purnell, Marvin Purnell, JaMario Freeman and Carltavis (Courtney) Purnell; great-grandchildren, JaMareyon Freeman, LaMya Purnell, Carltavis Purnell, Jr., Ja’khlayn Carson and Korsandra Reed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Taylor.
Graveside services to celebrate the life of Julia Purnell will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Graceland Cemetery.
