Julius D. Geier's Obituary
Julius D. Geier, 88, of Decatur, passed away at 7:55 AM Saturday, February 3, 2018 in his home with his wife, two sons, and daughters-in-law at his side. His oldest son along with two grandchildren were with Julius in spirit.
Julius was born February 10, 1929 in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Julius and Helen (Dettman) Geier. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Julius proudly served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in USAF at Wright Patterson AFB. He was previously employed with DuPont in South Carolina, Argonne National Laboratories in Illinois, and with Illinois Power as Manager of Nuclear Projects overseeing the construction and licensing for the Clinton Nuclear Power Plant. Julius married Janice Heuser on June 21, 1952. They shared over sixty-five years together.
Surviving are his wife Janice, three sons Charles, Robert (Frances), and Douglas (Dolly), grandchildren Kevin and Keri, and many nieces and nephews.
Julius was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois, Interventional Radiology at DMH, DMH Home Health, the American Red Cross, and Comfort Keepers for all the care and support provided to both Julius and his family.
Services to celebrate Julius’ life will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the services. Entombment to follow in the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross.
