Julius G. Otto's Obituary
Julius G. Otto, 85, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, surrounded by his family.
Julius was born December 23, 1930 in Budapest, Hungary to Guyula and Catherine (Luka) Otto. He married Barbara Utley on January 16, 1960 in Decatur. He worked at Firestone for 30 years. He was a member of Macon Archery, Orders of the Arrow, Troop 132 Scout Master and produced 32 eagle scouts and he was a devoted fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara; his daughter, Catherine (Jason) Yates of LaPlace; one grandson, Travis Otto; two sisters, Magduesch (Imra) Giricz of Polgardi, Hungary and Annico Otto of Budapest, Hungary; one niece, Ildiko (Gabor) Giricz of Manhattan, NY; and one great-niece, Vivian Giricz of Manhattan, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeffrey Glenn Otto; and one sister.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Julius G. Otto will be 12 noon Monday, March 21, 2016 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday at the funeral home before the service. Memorials may be directed to the wounded warriors.
