Decatur-June Elizabeth Fisher, 91, of Decatur, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Heartland at Riverview in East Peoria.
Graveside services to celebrate June’s life will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2009 at Fairlawn Cemetery with Military Honors Conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. June was born June 6, 1918 in Decatur the only child of Ernest and Amelia (Grolla) Krumsiek. June was a graduate of Decatur High School. During her career, she worked for the Mueller Company of Decatur and the Federal Department of Agriculture in Springfield. In 1970 she then retired and moved to Champaign living there until 2008. She was most proud of her Naval Service (WAVE) as a Yeoman 3rd Class during W.W. II. June married Glen Fisher in Springfield in 1964. Mr. Fisher preceded her in death in 1970. As a result of that union, June became a stepmother to three children.
She leaves behind her stepdaughters; Virginia Elliot and husband Jim of Peoria and Mary Lou Reisch and husband Ed of Madison, Wisconsin, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents, husband, and stepson; Jack Fisher.
