Oh my, what can I say? June and Don were so much more than friends when I was growing up â?? they were my second set of parents. I stayed with June after school and during the summers until I was about 13. We vacationed together, went to church, partied. Don pulled my first tooth. June made her wonderful chocolate chip cookies. I wanted the whole batch to myself. She was stern, but generous; questioning, but forgiving. I know I tried her in many ways and she loved me anyway and I loved her. I am honored to have some of her dolls. (sleeping with all of them in their basement was fun) The Indian maiden sits proudly in a captainâ??s chair in my dining room with a picture of June and the card that she sent with the doll. A very tall blond doll that she said Don did not like, stands on my dresser. Beautiful in her lace dress. I have a pretty small plate she painted sitting by a spool and button doll that she and my mother, Lillian Greenwell, made many of. I had the pleasure of a nice visit with her last August. So blessed to have had that time. She was truly a gift. The years and separation of miles took away the contact we had, but she will forever be in my heart. Grace to all the family. She loved you so much.Sue Ellen Greenwell Elliott
