Kathy Jo Gibbens' Obituary
Kathy Jo Gibbens, 74, of Lovington, Illinois, passed away March 22, 2024, in her home.
Kathy was born in Decatur, Illinois, on October 16, 1949, the daughter of Donald and Charlene Harshbarger. She managed a storage facility for many years, and later in life found great joy as a taxi driver for the Amish. This work gave her the opportunity to travel with her husband Robert as they delivered dogs to people along the east coast. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing Bingo. She married Robert Gibbens on April 3, 2009, in Decatur.
Kathy is survived by her husband; sons Matt (Stormy) Sunderland of Decatur and Tim (Deyna) Sunderland of Texas; stepson Rob (Kim) Gibbens of Lincoln, Illinois; grandchildren Tim, Allissa, Andrew, Lana, Canyon, and Colton; great-grandchild Brylee; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Bill Sunderland, brother Donny Harshbarger, and sister Sharon Lowe.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Macon County Memorial Park. Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting Kathy’s family with arrangements. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
