Keith M. Stone's Obituary
Keith M. Stone, 87, of Decatur, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 in St. Mary's Hospital of Decatur, with his loving family by his side.
Keith was born on August 26, 1933 in Piatt County, IL, the son of Carl and Pearl Rainey Stone. He married and had 2 daughters Tracy and Cindy. He married Ruthie Lutz who had one son, Terry A. Lutz who he raised as his own.
Keith leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years Ruthie, son Terry Lutz; grandchildren: Tiffany (Kip) Herrmann of Decatur, IL; Terry “T.J.” (Jean) Lutz of Cape Coral, FL; Tyler Lutz of Columbus, OH; great-grandchildren: Hayleigh Lutz of SIUe, Edwardsville, IL ; Cole and Kevin Herrmann of Decatur; and Brylee Lutz of Cape Coral, FL; special brother-in-law: David (Harriet) Sadowski; and 2 close longtime friends: Tom Lengsfeld and Joe Drone. Keith was preceded in death by his parents.
After graduating from Decatur High School in 1951, Keith joined the United States Air Force, and was a hydraulic mechanic, being discharged 4 years later as a Sargent.
Keith retired from Caterpillar, Inc as Supt. Of Materials after 32 years of service, and was a member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club.
Keith boated for 50 years with his wife and was President of the Caterpillar Boat Club for several years. He also loved to water ski, fish, hunt (especially out West), snow ski, snowmobiling and car races. He spent the last 30 years living in South Florida during the winter. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
Services to celebrate Keith’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday (Feb 12, 2021) at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Keith will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery in Decatur. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Decatur. CDC guidelines will be followed, and face masks are required for those in attendance.
