Decatur-Lance A. Collins, Sr., 65, of Decatur passed away April 16, 2009, at Decatur Memorial Hospital ending his five year courageous battle with cancer.
Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment at a later date will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Lance was born December 4, 1943 in Decatur, the son of Claudie and Pauline (Born) Collins. He worked as a heavy equipment operator, truck driver, and mechanic. He was last employed at Steve’s Trucking. He was a member of the Central Illinois Gem and Mineral Club. He enjoyed making necklaces and jewelry. He married Linda (Esely) Peterson April 27, 1999 in Decatur.
He leaves behind his wife; Linda, son; Lance Jr. of Batavia, daughter; Candy Sue Weirich and husband Wesley of Batavia, brothers; Dennis and wife Mary of Lincoln and Paul of Decatur, Alabama, sister; Carol Collins of Clinton, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother.
