Larrry D. Hayes' Obituary
DECATUR – Larry D. Hayes, 71 of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in his home.
Larry was born on July 2, 1942 in Decatur, son of Barney and Zola I. (Scott) Hayes. He worked as a setup man at Wagner Castings for 41 years before retiring in 2004. Larry married MaryLou Foster on October 16, 1960 in Decatur and she preceded him in death on October 20, 2011. Also preceding him in death are his son Scott, parents, grandparents, in-laws, and many aunts and uncles.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Penny (Matt) Detmers of Decatur; sons: Ray (Penny) Hayes of Mt. Zion, and Bobby (Misty) Hayes of Hammond; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Diana Hayes of Decatur; brother, Gary (Louise) Hayes of Niantic; cousin/brother, Corky Hayes of Decatur; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
God must have been ready for another “Angel” because that is what he has taken from his loved ones. He will be missed and loved forever but never ever forgotten. We all love you and we will meet again someday. WE LOVE YOU!
Special thanks to the ICU nurses at DMH that took care of our father, as well as Angie and Jim from hospice that helped us through everything.
Services to celebrate his life will be 2 pm Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home; visitation will begin at 1 pm. Family requests casual attire. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.
