Larry J. Feller's Obituary
Chatham- Larry Joseph Feller, 74 of Chatham, formerly of Mt. Zion, passed away at 8:52 am, on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born on March 9, 1949, in Mattoon, a son of Charles Wayne and Dorothy “Dot” Louise (Smith) Feller. Growing up, Larry played various sports with baseball being his passion. In college he played baseball and was on the Billiards team. After graduating from SIU-Edwardsville he taught physical education and driver’s education in the Alton, IL area. He then returned to Decatur where he worked as a machinist for Caterpillar until he retired.
Larry married Marcia Lynn Howell on July 8, 1974. They were high school sweethearts who were married for 49 years.
Larry’s biggest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and beloved grandfather. Larry loved being with his family and cheering on his grandchildren.
He enjoyed playing pool and loved to travel. He was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan, loved classic cars, and watching black and white movies.
Surviving are Larry’s devoted wife Marcia of Chatham, son- Jason and his wife Danielle Feller of Chatham, daughter- Kristy and her husband Jeff Deckard of Chatham, his beloved grandchildren- Elayna, Alivia, Mason and Miles.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Ricky W. Feller and granddaughter- Kayla Nicole Feller and his favorite dog Copper.
Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, December 16, 2023, in the chapel of Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at 2pm, Saturday, December 16, 2023, in Oak Grove Cemetery, Loami, IL. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
