Larry was born June 20, 1945 to Clarence and Alva Noe in Chestnut, Illinois. His mother passed away when he was eleven years old. Larry attended Chaddok Boys School until he was sixteen years old. His father remarried Marguerite Stillwell, who became a wonderful stepmother and beloved grandmother to his children. Larry graduated from Mt. Pulaski High School and entered the USAF.
He married Patricia Nehlich of Roscoe, South Dakota, on August 19, 1967. They met in Washington D.C. while he was in the Air Force. Larry and Pat made their home in Decatur.
Over the years, Larry worked for Hammon Bros. Allied Van Lines, R.D. McMillan, and A.E. Staley. At the age of forty he attended Parkland College and received his CDL trucker's license. He became the owner/operator of his own trucking business. He always made a promise to his family that he would be home every weekend, even if he had to drive all night. In his twelve years of trucking he didn't miss a weekend more than two or three times.
Larry loved to read, NASCAR #3 and #8, Bears football, Illini basketball, and most of all driving his big yellow trucks.
He had a major stroke in 1997 and became disabled. But people said he was like the energizer bunny, he always kept going. He saw both his daughters married and seven grandchildren born.
Larry leaves behind his devoted wife of over forty-five years Patricia, daughters Vikki Eltvedt and husband Kurt of Cary, Illinois and Cindi Mackling of Decatur, grandchildren Tyler and Keaton Eltvedt of Cary, Illinois and Zoey, Ashlyn, and Kaelyn Mackling, and Cambry and Caden Ballinger all of Decatur, mother-in-law Emma Nehlich of Ipswich, South Dakota, and his beloved boxer Roxy.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents and father-in-law.
Larry and Pat would like to thank all of his great caregivers from CHELP: Kathy, Fran, Carol, Gloria, Brenda, and Josephine. They would also like to thank their dearest friends Don and Kay Nunn who always made Larry's life easier and fun.
