Laura Melody Fisher's Obituary
Laura Fisher, 46, of Bon Aqua, TN, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, in remembrance of a wonderful wife, mother and friend that Laura is to all of us. Visitation will be 6-7 PM Thursday in the funeral home.
Laura was born on May 19, 1968 in Gary, IN, the daughter of Charles E. and Agnes F. (Baylor) Jennings. She married Stephen D. Fisher on June 3, 1989 in Decatur, IL.
Surviving are her husband, Stephen D. Fisher; sons, Kristopher Charles Fisher (girlfriend Chelsey Monroe) and Nicholas Daniel Fisher of Bon Aqua, TN; and sister, Teresa A. (Tosh) Sekimi of Decatur, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law Joyce L. Fisher.
Laura graduated from Stephen Decatur High school and attended Southern Illinois University and Mississippi State. Laura started singing at a very young age and loved entertaining. She was voted by the Illinois Country Music Association for “Most Promising New Female Vocalist” in the state of Illinois on October 13, 1991. She performed at various country opera’s throughout the mid 1990’s.
She was an avid NASCAR fan and loved Jimmy Johnson, Go 48!
Laura was a beautiful person inside and out, a wonderful mother, friend and a kid at heart with a larger than life personality, wit and a never ending laugh. She was truly one of a kind who did what we are all born to do. She left her mark on this earth and it will never be erased.
One of Laura’s greatest concerns was making sure Kristopher and Nicholas were taken care of. In lieu of flowers the family is asking contributions be made to “Laura M.
