Laura Lynn (Hill) Hornickel's Obituary
Laura Lynn (Hill) Hornickel, 57, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Laura was born March 24, 1956 in Kankakee, IL, the daughter of Wilson and Janet (Hinrich) Hill. She was a math teacher for the Decatur area schools, and a member of New Hope Seventh Day Adventist Church in Jerome, IL. She enjoyed gardening and looking out for her grandchildren. She married Gary Hornickel on August 5, 1977 in Clifton, IL. They shared 36 wonderful years together.
Laura leaves behind her husband, Gary; mother, Janet Hill; daughters, Gretchen (Paul) Harrison of Springfield, IL; Sarah (Ben) Foust of Lynchburg, VA; sisters, April (Bob) Arns; Lyla (Matt) Stefianich.
She is preceded in death by her father, Wilson Hill.
Honoring Laura’s wishes, cremation services will be provided by Graceland Crematory. A memorial service is planned for 5-6 pm Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Jerome United Methodist Church at 1570 Reed Avenue, Springfield, IL 62704. Food and Fellowship will follow the service.
