Laura Christine Rhoades' Obituary
Decatur-Laura Christine Rhoades, 31, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012 at her home with her family by her side.
Services to celebrate Laura's life will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
Laura was born February 1, 1980 in Oxnard, California, the daughter of Bill and Leslie (Swearingen) Rhoades. She received her Bachelors in Education from Harding University. She had taught kindergarten and second grade and was to begin her first year as a third grade teacher at Enterprise Elementary School. She was a member of Sunnyside Road Church of Christ. Laura enjoyed karaoke, shopping, spending time with friends, movies, and the color pink. She also adored babies and children.
She leaves behind her son Brendan Caleb, parents Bill and Leslie Rhoades of Decatur, and brothers, Brian Rhoades of Decatur and Brady Rhoades and wife Emily of Decatur.
She was reunited in Heaven with her son Caden.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Walton, Dr. Velasco, Dr. Godwin, Dr. Goldstein, the nurses and staff at St. Mary's, St. John's, DMH, and Barnes Jewish Hospital, and their family and friends at Sunnyside Road Church of Christ, Baum Elementary, and Enterprise Elementary.
