Decatur – LaVerne Francois Woolington, 96, of Decatur, IL, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
LaVerne was born July 4, 1922, in Decatur, the son of Frank and Theresa (Kramer) Woolington. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, LaVerne worked as a commercial artist for Industrial Printing. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Elks Club, Moose Lodge and VFW. He married Rosella Renfro September 26, 1942 in St. Charles, MO.
Surviving is his children: Gloria Frantz, Gary (Sue) Woolington and Laura (Herb) Younger of Decatur; grandchildren: Cheri Henneman, Melissa (Blaine) Koehler, Michelle (Cory) Matusas, Kyle (Laura) Woolington, Angie (Jason) Judkins and Julie (Jared) Smith; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; companion, Ruth Randol; and fur baby, Lucky.
LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers; one sister and one great grandson.
Graveside services with military rites will be 1 pm, Friday, November 16, 2018, at North Fork Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
