Lawrence Wayne Charles' Obituary
Decatur- Lawrence Wayne Charles, 61, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Lawrence was born May 27, 1951, in Olney, the son of Charles and Natalie (Hornback) Charles. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked at Essex retiring after twenty-five years of service. He then worked at ADM for five years. He enjoyed cars, sports, and weightlifting. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor.
He leaves behind his mother Natalie Charles of Decatur, father Charles Charles of Salem, brothers Orville Edgar Charles, Kevin Keith Charles, and Robert Charles and wife Bev all of Decatur, sister Betty Lynn Persono of Decatur, nephew James Foster, and nieces Angel Foster, Ashley Smith, and Bailey Waldrop.
Private services to celebrate Lawrence's life will be held. Public visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the wishes of the family in c/o Natalie Charles.
