Lawrence Allen Thomas' Obituary
Decatur-Lawrence “T.J.” Thomas, 82, of Decatur, passed away at 1:27 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009 at his residence with his family by his side.
Graveside services to celebrate Lawrence’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2009 at Macon County Memorial Park with Military Honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard and “Flight Home” Ceremony conducted by Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday March 16, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. T.J. was born February 5, 1927 in Springfield, Illinois the son of Thomas D. and Olive (Hollaway) Thomas. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during W.W. II. He worked at ADM retiring in 1970 after twenty years of service. He then joined the Boiler Makers Union #363 in Bellville, retiring in 1989 after eighteen years of service. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, American Legion Post #105, and Decatur Moose Lodge. He married Joyce Danner October 12, 1952 in Cerro Gordo.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of fifty-six years, one son Craig Thomas of Nevada City, California, granddaughter London Thomas of Emeryville, California, and several nieces and nephews.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents, son; Chris Allen, brothers; David and Joe, and sisters; Valerian, Evelyn, Helen, and Alice.
