Lennie Ruth Jones' Obituary
Lennie Ruth Jones, 80, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Services to celebrate Lennie’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Community Temple C.O.G.I.C., 759 S Jackson St, Decatur, IL 62521 . Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial donations are directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, or the Dementia Foundation.
Lennie was born on July 1, 1936 in Brownsville, TN, the daughter of Wade and Maggie Mae (Glaspin) Perkins. She enjoyed word search puzzles, gardening, church, her church family, cooking, western T.V. shows, and most of all, spending time with her family. Lennie was a homemaker. She was a chartered member of Community Temple C.O.G.I.C., where she served faithfully for many years. Lennie Perkins and Alvin Jones, Jr. were united in marriage October 14, 1956, and they shared 60 wonderful years together.
Cherishing her memories are her husband, Alvin Jones, Jr. of Decatur, sons, Albert Jones of Decatur, Stanley Jones of Decatur, Donell (Debra) Jones of Mableton, GA, Alvin Lamont Jones of Decatur, Dwayne (Sandy) Jones of Decatur; daughters, Brenda (John) Smith of Decatur, Vernadene (Edward) Wells of Decatur, Charlotte (Jodie) Johnson of Decatur, Diane Jones of Decatur, Toyee Manns of Chicago; sisters, Martha Richardson of Indianapolis, IN, Hattie Wilder of Decatur; brothers James Richardson of Louisville, KY, Lander (Lori) Richardson, of Decatur, twenty grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters.
