Leo Russell Uhrich's Obituary
Decatur- Leo R. Uhrich, 80 of Decatur, passed away 12:05 am Monday Sept. 20 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services to celebrate Leo's life will be 1:00 pm Friday, September 24, 2010 in the chapel at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home with Rev. Randal Garrett officiating followed by the 'Flight Home' ceremony. Inurnment will be private in the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Special Olympics of Illinois'Dream Catchers, Decatur office 2044 Walnut Grove Ave. Decatur, Ill. 62526. Leo was born on March 22, 1930 in Blue Mound the son of Glenn and Irene (Warnick) Uhrich. He worked as a custodian for many years in the Decatur Public Schools. Mr. Uhrich married Patricia (Shields) in January of 1955 and she preceded him in death in 2003. Leo was an avid Cardinal fan, and enjoyed his grandchildren and especially attending their sporting events.
Surviving are his daughter; Pam Ellis and husband Don of Decatur. Brother: Ronald Uhrich and wife Dorothy of Boody. Grandson: Chris Ellis and wife Kelli of Decatur, granddaughter: Dawn Atkins of Decatur. Great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Ashlyn, Abigail, Kayla Smith and husband Andrew, Colin, Kylee, Caitlyn, and Kaleb; and a great-great granddaughter Jayden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Patricia.
