My sympathy goes out to the Long family. Mr. Long gave me my first teaching job at Parsons School almost 27 years ago. I have great memories of teaching there. As a young teacher, I so appreciated his help, support, and guidance. His sense of humor has left me with many fond memories that will never be forgotten. I think of those times often. I am grateful to have known him and have nothing but respect and admiration for such a wonderful man. God Bless!
I am most saddened by the news of Mr. Long's death. While I never had the privilege of having him as my Principal at Parsons Elementary, I know my younger brother, Jon, always held him in the highest regard. In addition, I was a close friend of his daughter, Laura, for many years and had the opportunity to visit Mr. and Mrs. Long's home many times growing up. They were always the most gracious of hosts. I have many happy memories of the Long family, including numerous occasions when they would come to see their daughter, Laura, and myself in our High School plays. To the Long Family,I am so sorry for your loss. I was a student of Mr. Long's when he was a principal at Parsons Elementary. He had a true love for his job and the children he taught. I remember one Christmas in particular, he brought gifts to our family. He was truly a gem and will be missed by so many. Thank you for allowing us to share in such a wonderful life.Jeanelle Keck
What a sad day for the Cooper and Bond families. Mr. long was my principal at John Adams Elementary school. I was extremely fond of him, as I know many of my peers were as well. Mr. Long was indeed a leader in and out of school. I can remember the countless days of Mr. Long playing basketball and kickball with all of the students. The talent shows were unbeliveable. Kids from kindergarten to 6th grade had the opportunity to share their talents and Mr. Long would cheer everyone on. I had the distinct pleasure of throwing a pie in his face my 6th grade year after my fellow classmates and I put on dresses and danced like folls. The expression on his face was one that i will never forget. Mr. Long…you will always be in my heart forever. I will never forget our long conversations and the times we shared. My condolences to Mr. Long's family. He will be greatly missed!As a former student at John Adams I vividly remember him joining us on the playground for basketball during recess and lunch. I also remember the final talent show in 6th grade where he allowed a few students to throw a pie in his face — I was one of the lucky ones that was selected to participate.He really cared for the students and was more than willing to help in anyway he could.I hope memories of his life of serving his students will bring you comfort.
