LeRoy H. "Bud" Stuckey's Obituary
Decatur-LeRoy H. “Bud” Stuckey, 80, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 in his home with his family by his side.
Bud was born February 28, 1935 in Sigel, Illinois, the son of LeRoy C. and Laura (Shuette) Stuckey. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was previously employed with Caterpillar retiring with over twenty years of service. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the American Legion in Sigel, and the UAW Local #751 in Decatur. Bud enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing cards, and the Chicago Cubs. He married Geraldine “Gerry” Niebrugge July 12, 1958. They shared over fifty-six years together.
Bud leaves behind his wife Gerry of Decatur, daughters Cindy Summers and husband Bob and Debbie Paczak and husband John all of Decatur, sons Greg Stuckey of Decatur and Jeff Stuckey and wife Jean of Collinsville, brother Jim Hanfland and wife Carol of Eatonton, Georgia, nine grandsons, and one great-grand-daughter.
Bud was reunited in Heaven with his parents, stepfather Frank Hanfland, one sister, one half-brother, two stepsisters, and one stepbrother.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at St. John’s Hospice, St. Mary’s Hospital, all the doctors who cared for him over the years, Very Rev. Joe Molloy, and Sister Janet Phile.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Bud’s life will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2400 S. Franklin St. Decatur, with the Very Reverend Joseph Molloy Celebrant. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Monday prior to the Mass at the church. Entombment with military honors will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Holy Family Catholic Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
