LeRoy Camp's Obituary
Decatur-LeRoy Camp, 80, of Decatur, went to be with Jesus November 18, 2013 at his home with his family by his side.
LeRoy was born August 12, 1933, in Cerro Gordo, the son of Clarence and Lillian (England) Camp. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Caterpillar. He supported his children and grandchildren and attended all of their events. He also was never to busy to beat them in a game of checkers. He enjoyed meeting “The Lunch Bunch” and “The Gang”, vacations in the Smokey Mountains, and attending St. Louis Cardinal baseball games and Illini basketball. He was outgoing, had a wonderful sense of humor, and liked to help people. He had a true servant’s heart. LeRoy married Marita Goken March 8, 1957.
LeRoy leaves behind Marita his wife of over fifty-six years, sons Kevin and David Camp, daughter Diane (Jim) Hanna, grandchildren Stacy (Kamil) Rzeczkowski, Caleb (Regina) Camp, Jordan Camp, Halie and Nicholas Hanna, and great-grandson, Gideon Camp, twin brother Leo Camp, brother Bobby Camp, sisters Barbara (Lloyd) Tripp, Laura Finney, Dorma (Emil) Karasch, and Donna (Wayne) Maddox.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Gene Finney, and sister-in-law Ann Camp.
The family would like to thank all who prayed, sent cards, brought food, called, and encouraged us. Your support was such a blessing. Also a special thanks to DMH Hospice for their kind loving care.
Honoring LeRoy’s wishes cremation services will be provided by Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. No services are planned at this time. Memorials may be directed to Speed the Light in c/o Maranatha Assembly of God Church, 555 W. Imboden, Decatur, IL 62521.
