Leroy was born March 16, 1938, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of William Carlin and Myrtle Olivia (May) Walston.
He started learning life's hard lessons at an early age. First and simply, if you don't work you don't eat. By the age of fifteen already working on garbage routes, he went on to work at Simon Burstein & Co scrap yard. Building on his experience, Leroy started his own scrap business, later evolving into Walston Auto Wrecking. He also managed to retire from ADM. Always willing to share his knowledge and time, he earned the nickname 'Dad'. He had a good sense of humor and was willing to use it.
Leroy's attention was focused on his love for Family, Friends, and Nature. His core belief was 'All belongs to God, we are only borrowing it'.
Leroy is survived by his loving family and friends.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister, and three grandchildren.
