Leslie W. Swartz Sr.'s Obituary
Leslie W. Swartz passed away September 4, 2025, at 100 years old. Les was born October 9, 1924, to Fred A. Swartz and Bessie White Swartz in Atwood, IL. He had seven brothers and sisters. He married (Labonne) Sue Isley on May 5, 1946. Sue died August 23, 1999.
Les worked for Millikin National Bank, now known as Regions and retired at 65 after 40 years of service.
He enjoyed playing snooker (billiards) with his friends and dominoes with his son and daughter-in-law. He enjoyed reading mystery and western books and visited the Decatur Public Library as often as he could. He was proud of his grandson, Mike. He was a die-hard Cubs baseball fan.
Les is survived by son, Wayne (Barbara), grandson Michael (Trisha), great grandchildren, Lexi and Luke. He is also survived by a sister, Alberta Crane in Texas, and a brother, Don in Atwood.
He was preceded in death by parents, wife, one brother and four sisters.
Les spent the last year and a half at Carriage Crossing (now known as Carriages of Decatur) and became very close with the staff, especially nurses Tiffany, Belinda and Ayana.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Fairlawn Cemetery. The Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home.
