Lillie Mae Cassidy's Obituary
Lillie Mae Wallace Cassidy, 71, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Decatur, IL.
She was born in Doniphan, MO, on December 12, 1954, to William Cecil Wallace Sr. and Sarah Mildred Leonard. She married Timothy Cassidy on July 10, 2011, sharing thirteen years together until he preceded her in death on July 17, 2024.
She was a member of The Cross Church in Decatur, IL.
Lillie always enjoyed a good book to read, walking at Rock Springs and down along Lake Decatur, and she dreamed of one day owning a log cabin in the woods somewhere secluded. She was a professional seamstress and took great pleasure in making matching outfits for her and her daughters as they grew up. Over the years she made prom, homecoming, and bridesmaid dresses for her daughters and many other individuals. She hand-crafted unique Halloween costumes and even made wedding dresses, including her own.
Another of her favorite things to do was to make special birthday cakes for her daughter's and her grandchildren. She was an avid baker and enjoyed trying new recipes for sweet treats, asking her family to judge them.
Above all, Lillie loved spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. Whether it was Sunday afternoons perusing open houses, family dinners after church, building Lego towers with the grandkids, watching them play sports or just gathered around the dining room table playing games together; her family was her pride and joy.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by both her parents, one brother, Larry Glen Wallace, and one sister, Bonnie Sue Wallace.
Those left to cherish her memory include: daughters, Serena (Jason) Baldwin, Rachel (Todd) Courtney, and Carma (Greg Kan) Heidecker; brothers, William Cecil (Marie) Wallace Jr. and James Lee (Cherie) Wallace; sisters, Alice Marie (Russel) Broadfield and Glenna Lee (Roger) Coleman; grandchildren, Lillie Baldwin, Leo Baldwin, Blake Dulgar, Cody (Daytona) Altevogt, and Bryce Dulgar; and great-grandson, Eli.
Visitation for Lillie Cassidy will take place from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Funeral will be held at 1:00 PM the next day, Saturday, June 6, 2026, also at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Fairlawn cemetery.
