I met Linda when she came to Clinton, IL to accept the DOVE position. Over the years we became good friends, I will miss her phone calls, visits with a bouquet of her flowers in September, her laughter and prayers. I met Linda when I had just completed a Uniquely Created class at St. Paul's Church. We were discussing our spiritual gifts and it came up that I liked children. Not too long after that she asked if I would be available to help her sort some old Sunday school lessons. So, for a few hours each day of the next week, we worked together and got to know each other. After that I was one of the recipients of some of her flowers. She continued to show kindness to me in many ways.
She also asked me to help with VBS, I was able to for a year or two. One thing was she always reminded me ...VBS for Life! I can hear her saying that now.
I will miss Linda a lot, she always greeted me with a smile and sent many cards and prayers my way. You were a light shining to the world around you! Thank you! Glenda Buhr
Linda offered such a bright light to so many us! She came into a room with a warm, loving smile; with faith in her heart; with witnessing offered in her words; with hope shining through in her outlook. I sit here in awe of how much she thought about others - and then followed through with a handwritten note on a card or bookmark she had actually created or a bouquet of flowers that she well might have grown. We believed her faith because she lived it day in and day out. We knew down deep in our hearts that someone was thinking of us and praying for us because of her actions.
She and David came so often to visit my mother, Pat Staff, especially after her stroke. They often came to visit her and also graciously spent many Thanksgiving and Christmas Days with Mother and me in Springfield. They brought laughter and joy to both of our lives. I will never ever forget the kindness and generosity of their time and care for her, and the tenderness with which Linda always talked and prayed with Mother! It meant so VERY much to her - and to the whole family.
Linda was - and Linda is - part of the smile in my heart when I think of God. I am so much the better for being graced to know her - graced to be family along side her.

Linda was a dear friend and a dear sister in Christ to me, her pastor. It was wonderful working together with Linda, with our Sunday School and Vacation Bible Schools at Trinity Lutheran Church. Linda truly knew and loved her Savior, Jesus. She dearly loved people, which flowed from her faith in Jesus. Linda was ready and looking forward to going home to heaven to be with her Savior, Jesus. And now the Lord has welcomed her home! May the Lord keep all of us in our faith in Jesus, until the day we join her in the paradise of God, to live with our Savior, Jesus, forever! Linda was always so kind and thoughtful, showing up at Staff Family events with candy and hand written cards for the children with scripture verses. We will miss her so much but take great comfort that she is enjoying her new life in the presence of the Lord Jesus!

Linda was always so kind and gracious. She frequently would present us with gifts of beautiful little flowers that she was so skillful at growing.. Rest in peace dear Linda.
Whether it was flowers from her garden or hand stamped bookmarks...Linda shared what she had: love for children and their families, time to "do what needed doing" even if no one else wanted to do it, and a wonderful way of sharing her faith in Jesus with everyone she met. She was loved and will be missed by many of us.
I met Linda through St. Paul's church. She loved teaching Sunday School and spent a lot of her time preparing lessons. My kids would help her sometimes while my dad and I did electrical work. We kept in touch after she left the church and went to Trinity. My family and I met with her and Cindy at Christmas time and we exchanged notes in the mail. She was always interested in what was going on in our lives and provided words of encouragement and support to all of us. We will deeply miss her and the love she showed us. Our love and prayers are with her family and we are comforted to know we will see her one day again in heaven.
