Lloyd O. "Dutch" Atchason's Obituary
Decatur-Lloyd O. 'Dutch' Atchason, 96, of Decatur, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 in OSF St. Joseph's Medical Center.
Dutch was born November 20, 1916 in Louisville, Illinois, the son of James and Della (Hagen) Atchason. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was previously employed as a letter carrier with the USPS retiring after twenty years of service. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, yard work, and reading. Dutch married Lucille Cohea she preceded him in death in 1951. He then married Martha Lane August 10, 1957. They shared over fifty-five years together.
He leaves behind his wife Marty, sons Stephen Atchason and wife Lynda of Decatur and Gregory Atchason and wife Kimi of Chula Vista, California, grandchildren Mark, Elizabeth, Adam, Kyra, Ryan, and Mara, and great-grandchildren Sydney and Jacob.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, first wife Lucille, four brothers, and three sisters.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff in the ER at OSF St. Joseph's Medical Center and the nurses and staff at Manor Care in Clinton.
Services to celebrate Dutch's life will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Burial with military honors will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Central United Methodist Church.
