Lois J. Hrodey's Obituary
Decatur-Lois J. Hrodey, 80, of Midland, TX, formerly of Decatur passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Mabee Center in Midland, TX.
Services to celebrate Lois's life will be 11:00 am Tuesday December 14, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Rachel Hacker officiating. Visitation will be from 6 ' 8:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Interment with the 'Flight Home' ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Good Samaritan Inn in Decatur. Online memories and condolences may be shared with Lois's family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
Lois was born February 25, 1930 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Victor and Hazel (Collins) Petersen. Lois married Thomas E. Hrodey on August 27, 1949. Lois was very involved in the Decatur community. She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Decatur where Lois and Thomas were founding members. She was very active in the local Girl Scouts serving as a troop leader and Girl Scout Board member and officer, she was past president on the YWCA board, and supported the Good Samaritan Inn as treasurer and server. Lois also worked several years as a volunteer in the Scovill Zoo where she took animals to area schools for presentations.
Lois leaves to cherish her memories her son Jim (wife – Ava) Hrodey of Menasha, WI; her daughters Susan (husband-David) Hines of Apache Junction, AZ and Judy (husband – Tom, Jr.) Laney of Odessa, TX; her brother Victor (wife ' Ruth) Petersen, Jr. of Orland Park, IL; and her four grandchildren Jennifer, Matthew, Catheryn, and Tom Laney, III.
Lois was reunited in Heaven with her husband Thomas; her parents Victor and Hazel; and her son Thomas Mark Hrodey.
