Lois Kendall's Obituary
Decatur- Lois Kendall 84, died on November 5, 2009, at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois.
Services to celebrate Lois’ life will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 9, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with a morning visitation at 10:00 am at the funeral home. An evening visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Sunday, November 8, 2009 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her to the Forsyth Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. A luncheon will follow at the Forsyth United Methodist Church. Lois Kendall was born on April 3, 1925, in rural Unadilla, Nebraska, to parents Fred and Mabel (Roberts) Miller.
Lois graduated from Douglas High School and attended Peru State Teacher’s College in Nebraska. She taught grades K through 8th in a one-room country school house for several years before marrying Robert W. Kendall on December 7, 1945. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1987.
Lois was a member of the Forsyth United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Home Betterment Club, Wagner’s Retirees Club, and Beta Sigma Phi. She was an active volunteer in the PTA, Cub Scouts, and the “Paper Chase” at Decatur Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, music, reading, crossword puzzles, movies, traveling, and the company of beloved family and friends.
Lois is survived by sons Robert (Nancy) Kendall of Park City, Utah, and Donald (Gloria) Kendall of Woodridge, Illinois, and daughter Linda (John) Jachino of Savanna, Illinois; sister Mary Baker of Greeneville, Tennessee, brother-in-law Ron Ferguson of Lincoln, Nebraska, and sister-in-law Shirley Miller of Syracuse, Nebraska; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by both parents, her husband, two brothers, one sister, two sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.
