Lois J. Van Meter's Obituary
Decatur – Lois J. Van Meter, 81, of Decatur passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 in Symphony of Decatur.
Lois was born on January 24, 1932 in Tyronza, AR the daughter of George A. and Rosia L. (Due) Martin. She had worked as a telephone operator in California. She was a member of the United Church of God and the Lois Club. She married Rex Van Meter on November 7, 1959 in South Gate, CA.
Surviving are her husband, Rex; sons, Thomas E. Van Meter (Joann) of Stephens City, VA; Ted A. Van Meter of Cut Bank, MT; Daniel L. Van Meter (Kelly) of Kokomo, IN; Jonathan Eric Van Meter (Carissa) of Columbus, OH; Rex Andrew Van Meter of Tempe, AZ; grandchildren Nicholas Van Meter; Drew Van Meter; Blake Van Meter; Hunter Van Meter; Ian Van Meter; Seth Van Meter; Ethan Van Meter; and a brother, Oscar Martin (Elizabeth) of Palestine, AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Estes Martin, and one sister Kathy Cross.
Funeral service to celebrate Lois’ life will be 10 AM Monday, August 12, 2013 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-6 PM Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery and conclude with the “Flight Home” ceremony.
