Lonnie R. Dart, 69, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 in his home.
Services to celebrate Lonnie's life will be 7 PM Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral home. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Saturday in the funeral home.
Lonnie was born on February 1, 1943 in Decatur, IL, the son of Audrey and Chancey Dart. He was previously employed at Firestone. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Lonnie was very supportive of his children and served as president of the Decatur Swim Club. He was an avid sports fan. He played on the Eisenhower High School football and baseball teams. He participated in intramural basketball, baseball, golf, and dart leagues as well as fishing and hunting. His Tivo always recorded the Cubs, Bears, and Illini or suffered a good talking to. Everyone who knew Lonnie was touched by his generosity and big heart. His laugh could fill a room to make everyone smile and laugh with him. His family and friends will dearly miss him.
Surviving are his mother Audrey Dart and brother Chancey (Bud) Dart of Decatur, IL, sisters Carol Korte of Apache Junction, AZ, and Linda Drew of Harbor City, CA, daughter Tara Irons of Springfield, IL, son Greg Dart of Chicago, IL, and grandchildren Jaelyne, Tayler, and Mya, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lonnie was preceded in death by father Chancey Dart and sister Betty Jean Ernst of Decatur, IL, and brother Bob Dart of Edmonds, OK.
