Lorraine V. Tuttle's Obituary
DECATUR- Lorraine V. Tuttle, 89 of Decatur, went to be with the Lord at 10:10 am Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital, with her family by her side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Monday, January 19, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Jeff Grant, Presider. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 on Sunday evening at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, in Hillside. Lorraine was born on September 7, 1919 in Chicago, the daughter of Charles Joseph and Caroline Elizabeth (Spinner) Fellows. Lorraine married Delbert Tuttle on December 31, 1950 in Chicago. He passed away on April 16, 1972. Lorraine was a homemaker, a wonderful mother, a loving grandmother and great grandmother. In her later years Lorraine went to live with her daughter Carolyn, who became her caregiver for fifteen years. Lorraine enjoyed participating in family activities, watching old movies and calling everyone who cared for her “Pumpkin”.
Leaving not to mourn, but to cherish her memory are her son: Vincent Tuttle and daughter: Carolyn Peckham both of Decatur, grandchildren: Vincent Murray of Decatur and Karrie (Mark) Maxwell of Harristown, great grandchildren: Dalton, Mark Jr., and Candace Maxwell of Harristown, nephews: Roy (Dorothy) Erickson of Jacksonville, AR., Patrick Fellows of Chicago, Edward Erickson of Woodstock and James Erickson of Woodstock. nieces: Barbara (Jack) Bracken of Arizona, Barbara (Eddie) Hardgrave of Wonder Lake and Carol (Robert) Borchardt of Ringwood, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson: Delbert Charles, brother: Charles Fellows, Jr., two sisters: Catherine Coty and Rita Christensen.
Carolyn Peckham would like to give special thanks to staff at St. Mary’s and DMH. To the CHELP workers who helped with the care of her mother in her home. Special appreciation for Dr. Yi Zhou who took excellent care of Lorraine while her health was failing. Special thanks to Pastor Ron for his words of encouragement and compassion in a time of great need. Lorraine was very much loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her. We will miss her smile and getting called “Pumpkin”. We’ll see you in Heaven “Pumpkin”.
