Louis Wayne Allen's Obituary
Wayne was born in Carlinville, Illinois on November 1st, 1928, and passed away peacefully on May 15th, 2024, surrounded by family and his wife Carol (Piper) Allen (Olney IL), at Carriage Crossings Senior Living, he was 95.
Wayne attended Girard High school and was very involved in the Athletics Program. After High school he joined the United States Army and became a sharpshooter in the peacekeeping forces after WWII.
Wayne was a master mechanic, craftsman and innovator. He engineered/fabricated a foot operated hydraulic system on his riding lawn mower in the early 70’s. He was the innovator of the ladder on an RV that he hand fabricated. He also fabricated and designed a swivel front seat in his motor home for easy exits. He loved working with his hands and his places of employment reflected that. His mantra for himself was, “if anyone can do it, I can.”
Wayne was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Decatur and all services will be held there Thursday, May 23, beginning with a 1-hour visitation at 10am followed by Funeral services at 11am and committal at Norfolk Cemetery.
Wayne was pre-deased by his parents Irene and John Sterling Allen and his only Brother, Lloyd Allen all of Girard IL.
Wayne was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his family. His passion for life and unwavering spirit will forever be remembered. He is survived by a large family who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
