Louis Edward "Louie" Logan's Obituary
Decatur-Louis Edward "Louie" Logan, 77, of Decatur passed away at 12:07 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in St. Mary's Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born November 26, 1935 in Decatur, the son of John R. and Gladys (Long) Logan. He was previously employed with the Wabash, NW, and NS Railroad retiring after forty-three years of service. He was a man of many talents. He drove a school bus and worked at the school. He was a member of New Life Tabernacle Church and the Sheet Metal Workers Local #218 where he served as past president, and the McDonalds Coffee Club. He loved car racing and was a great fan of dirt tracks and Shannon Babb #18. He also enjoyed basketball and gatherings of retired railroaders. He married Edith Cunningham April 25, 1953 in Moweaqua. They shared over sixty years together.
He leaves behind his wife Edie of Decatur, children Louis Allen (Karen) Logan, Nita "Susie" (Jim) Pope, Jerry Logan (Chris Logsden), and Tim (Suzanne) Logan all of Decatur, daughter-in-law Carol Logan of Decatur, brothers John, Gerald, Derald, Dewayne, and James Lee Logan all of Decatur and Tom Logan of Arkansas, sisters Mary Ragan, Darlene Logan, and Betty Standford all of Decatur, the loves of his life his grandchildren Roy Allen and Ryan Edward Logan of Austin, Texas and Matt Pope, Jamie Ingram, Kristy Kitterman, Kimberly Logan, and Darin Logan all of Decatur, great-grandchildren Jarius and Jarin Ingram, Haylee Wilson, Mark and Morgan Logan, and Taylor Logan.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, brothers Charles and Donald Logan, sister Josephine Thompson, and son Mark Logan.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Kris Patel, the nurses and staff at St. Mary's Hospital, and to Dr. Edwards-Talley and her staff at the Wabash Memorial Clinic for all of their loving care.
Services to celebrate Louie's life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will be in South Macon Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to New Life Tabernacle Church in Macon.
