Lowell Hamilton's Obituary
Decatur-Lowell H. Hamilton Sr, 87, formerly of Warrensburg passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Heartland Health Care Center with his loving family at his bedside.
A service to celebrate the life of Lowell will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with a visitation starting at 2:30 p.m. to the time of the service. Interment at Kirk Cemetery in Ina, Illinois will be at a later date. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warrensburg Methodist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice. Lowell was born August 16, 1923 in Cicero, Illinois the son of John and Sarah (Veach) Hamilton. He proudly served his country in the Navy during WW II. Lowell was a teacher for over 20 years and was a member of the Warrensburg Methodist Church for many years. He married Betty Grace Johnson April 16, 1946.
Left behind to cherish his memory are sons; Lowell Jr. and wife Mary of Chatham and Carl and wife Jane of Decatur, daughter; Nancy Wheaton and husband Rick of Decatur, brother; Curtis Hamilton, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Lowell was greeted into Heaven by his wife and parents.
