Luella Maxine Carson's Obituary
Luella Maxine Carson, 94, formerly of Monticello and Decatur, passed away January 4, 2023 at Champaign-Urbana Nursing Home and Rehab center in Savoy.
Lou was born March 27, 1928, the daughter of Raleigh and Nondas (Livingood) Chapman. She married Raymond Verrel Carson on June 13, 1954 in Decatur. He preceded her in death.
Lou is survived by her sons Kevin (Tammy) Carson of Urbana and Wayne (Missy) Carson; grandchildren Katie Carson, Kevin Carson II, Kelsey Carson, Blake (Amy) Carson, Brittany Carson, Courtney Carson, and Ashley Carson; great-grandchildren Addison Carson, Gabriella Gutierrez, and five additional; sisters Ruth (Ron) Byerly, Fern Olinger, Dorothy White, Darlene Staley, and Kay (Dwight) Klepzig; brother Danny Chapman; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Victor Chapman and Dean Chapman.
Lou was an active member of First Baptist Church in Monticello, IL, for many years. She loved cooking, sewing, crafts, listening to Gospel music, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She was a good-hearted and spiritual woman who devoted her time to helping others. She will be sadly missed by many.
Visitation for Lou will be held on Tuesday, January 10 from 9:30am to 11:00am at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial in Graceland Cemetery will follow the service. Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church of Monticello. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
