Decatur-Luke M. Snyder, 28, of Decatur passed away 11:30 am Saturday, April 25, 2009 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Services to celebrate Luke’s life will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, May 1, 2009 at Heartland Community Church, 3253 N. Brush College Rd., Decatur, IL, with Pastor Joe Bowman officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 10- 12 noon at the church. Interment with the “Flight Home” Ceremony will be private for family at Graceland Cemetery. Luke’s family suggests that memorials be made to his sons: Clayton and Devin. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting his family with these arrangements. Luke was born June 1, 1980 in Decatur, son of Joe Snyder and Tina Smith.
Luke is survived by his parents Joe and wife Nickie Snyder of Decatur and Tina Overlin and significant other Richard Carter of Decatur, two sons Clayton and Devin Winter and their mother Bridget Winter all of Decatur, maternal Grandma R. Esther Smith of Decatur, step father Wayne Overlin, two brothers Tyler Snyder of Decatur, David Overlin of Decatur, three sisters: Adriane Collins of Springfield, Kimberly Fickes of Decatur, Elyse Overlin and significant other Donnell Gause of Decatur, three step-brothers: Brannon Boehm of Effingham, Brian Boehm of Decatur, and Brent Boehm of Altamont, one step-sister: Brooke Tucker of Pekin, two nieces: Kaylynn Gause of Decatur, Leleah Gause of Decatur, two nephews: Myles Wicker of Decatur, Dontae Gause of Decatur, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a multitude of friends.
He was reunited in heaven with his maternal Grandpa: William D. Smith, paternal grandparents: Harry M. and Edna R. Snyder.
Luke was a devoted father, a great son and brother, and a loyal friend to many. He was an organ donor through Gift of Hope, giving life to five other people.
