Lyle E. Dunn's Obituary
Lyle E. Dunn, 85, of Sullivan, IL passed away August 24, 2019 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Lyle was born in Decatur, IL, the son of Louis and Florence (Aubert) Dunn. He was a veteran of the US Army. He married Ruby Craig on July 7, 1971 in Decatur, IL.
Lyle had worked for the Wabash and Illinois Central Railroad. He became a hairdresser and also worked as a prison guard for Stateville Prison. Lyle was of the Lutheran Faith. He was a lifetime member of the Shriner’s for years. During his leisure he enjoyed playing with his dog, Paddy.
Surviving are his children, Gina Davis (Louis) of Decatur, IL, Benny Dunn (Paula) of Colburn, ID, Leland Lesher (Jody) of Florida, Sharon Lesher Bliss of
New Mexico, Noni Lesher Bittner (Rick) of Bloomington, IL; sister, Sally Riber of Decatur, IL; 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, one of whom he shared his birthday with, and great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Josephine Collins of Shelbyville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby; parents; two brothers; one sister; grandson, Chip; great-granddaughter, Tori.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 30, 2019 at Christ United Methodist Church, 1503 N. Summit, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 AM at the church. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials: Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
