Lyle was born on January 28, 1961 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Jacques “Jack” Thomas and Fay Thomas. Lyle was a certified master mechanic by trade, a trade and passion he always shared with his father. Beginning his career very early in age, the family never knew if the toaster or any other mechanical device would soon be “modified.” Lyle was also a lover of music and an amazing guitar player. Some of his fondest memories were his “band days” and he couldn’t have been more thrilled to be able to play during a recent band reunion. As a proud father of two, Lyle passed his love of music to his children both in guitar and voice. Lyle loved being a grandfather and the time that he spent with his grandchildren will be cherished always.
Quick-witted and often the comedian of the family, his life, laugh and smile will be lovingly remembered by his family: Fay Thomas (mother) of Decatur, Illinois; children: Joshua (Vicki)Thomas of Springfield, Illinois, Sara Thomas (Dustin) Scroggins of Decatur, Illinois; grandchildren, Blaize Scroggins, Emelia Scroggins and Rozalynn Scroggins; sisters, Debbie (Terry) Morris, Denise Thomas, and Teresa (Tyler) Townsend.
Lyle was preceded in his death by his father, Jack Thomas.
