Lynette was born in Decatur, IL on May 13, 1946, the oldest child of Peter and Lillian Halicki. Lynette grew up in Maroa, IL, where she graduated from Maroa Forsyth High School. In high school, Lynette enjoyed her classes and maintained contact with many of her teachers throughout her life. She often fondly spoke of being chosen as the Homecoming Queen and her time spent as the school baton twirler.
After high school, Lynette married George Fleming at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clinton. They started a family and moved to Decatur. Lynette’s focus was always on being a mother and caring for her children, volunteering at their school events, cooking nutritious meals, and caring for everyone in the home.
Lynette enjoyed cooking and some of her best recipes live on today with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to caring for her children, Lynette also enjoyed being a grandmother to five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She attended countless sporting events, concerts, musicals, and activities of theirs over the years and relished in watching them display their many talents. Lynette was at her best and was always happiest while spending time with her grandchildren.
Lynette also enjoyed having a plant and flower garden and spent a lot of creative time managing and planning those green spaces.
Lynette worked outside of the home in a few office jobs over the years, but most truly enjoyed her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Lynette was also a person of faith, having belonged to St. James Catholic Church and Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church. At St. James, Lynette enjoyed singing in the choir, especially around the Holidays.
Memorials to Lynette can be made to the Good Samaritan Inn of Decatur.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
