Peg was born October 31, 1926 in Burlington, Vermont, the daughter of Warren Daniel and Sannie Shelton (Bassett) Hall. She graduated from Milford High School in Milford, New Hampshire. She graduated from Marshall University with two masters degrees. She taught in Decatur, Illinois, at Centennial, John's Hill, and Muffley. Mrs. Guertin enjoyed her 4th grade students at Muffley and her special friend Rosamond Fox, a fellow teacher. She was a member of the American Contract Bridge League and loved to play duplicate bridge and became a Life Master. She had several partners whom she played with in the Decatur Commodore Bridge Club. Bridge was a joy, therapy, and at times frustration. Her love of nature's creatures extended to the great and small. She supported over sixty animal, environmental, and conservation organizations and was a member of many. She promoted local animal welfare organizations and had a self funded low cost spay/neuter program for a short period. Her dream was for Decatur to have a humane animal care facility and not a pound. She was a big supporter of and very pleased when Macon County and the Decatur Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation started working together. Peg helped with labor and finances to start the Homeward Bound Animal Shelter and thinks the world of the Decatur Humane Society. She married Nelson J. Lock July 15, 1981 one of the first ceremonies in the new gazebo at Scovill Park.
