Mable Helen Weatherford's Obituary
Decatur-Mable Helen Weatherford, 84, of Decatur, passed away at 10:40 am Wednesday, January 14, 2009 in her home with her family at her side.
Services to celebrate Helen’s life will be at 11:30 am Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Jenkins from Boiling Springs Church of God officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Friday, January 16, 2009 at the funeral home. Interment will be private at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to DMH Auxiliary, DMH Hospice, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
Helen was born on October 8, 1924 on a farm near Chestnut, Illinois, the daughter of Harley and Minnie McKinley. She retired from A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and a past distinguished president of Kiwanis. She was a DMH volunteer for many years. Her joy was her family. She married Robert O. Weatherford on October 27, 1942. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1986.
She leaves behind three daughters; Ann Brunson and husband Jerry, Jane Sarver and husband Bob, and Kay Park and husband Rodney, brothers; Richard McKinley of Decatur and Lowell McKinley of Las Vegas, Nevada, sisters; Bonnie Pope and husband John and Rue Copeland both of Mt. Pulaski, grandchildren; Susan Bishop and husband Doug, Andrea Sheffer and husband Bill, Lynne Clark and husband Tyler, Amy Sarver, and Crystal Madrigal and husband Alvaro, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Helen loved each and every one of them. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
Helen was reunited in heaven with her parents, husband, and brothers David and William.
