We lost a good and faithful friend who was like family to all of his camping and fishing friends. Matt, was a strong, hard working man and also a gentle, caring man. We treasure the memories he left from camping days in Shawnee National Forest and the times he spent with our children growing up and the life lessons he taught them. Matt Hicks was the smartest, least educated man i ever knew. He taught me more than my own father. I always had the utmost respect for this man. I've missed him these past years and will see him again someday, Lord willing. Jeff Lahniers
