Decatur-Makilah Rae (Pruitt) Tyus, 4, of Decatur, was placed in the loving arms of Jesus at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009.
Services to celebrate Makilah’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009 in the chapel of Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment with “Flight Home” Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Makilah was born January 7, 2005 in Decatur, the daughter of Kelsie Pruitt and Dantwan Tyus. She was a student at Anna Waters Headstart Site #2. She loved Hannah Montana, her baby Jacob, princesses, and playing with dolls.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory mother; Kelsie Pruitt and fiancé Gregory Childs, father Dantwan Tyus, sisters; Aaliyah and Teonna, brother; Jaylin, grandparents; Doug and Tarra Henson Pruitt, Carol Pipkin, Donald Askins, Theresa Branilett, Danny Tyus, and Marcia Jones, great-grandparents; Sandra Henson and Monte “Bill” and Barb Henson, great-great-grandma Eunice Huckaba, aunts and uncles; Matthew Henson and Naomi Collins, Doug and Amanda Pruitt, Brandi Pickering, Billy Russell, Cody Pickering, Sean Patterson, and Tyshia Tyus, great-aunts and uncles; Marla Pickering, Robbie and Lori Henson, Melinda Pruitt, Marla and Willy Ewald, and Sherry and Ramon Gillespie, cousins; Jade, Katelynn, Madelynn, Brycen, Ceanna, and Ronketta, and Nana Torri Wilkins.
She was greeted in heaven by her great-grandparents; Ray and Shirley Pruitt, great-great-grandpa; Ross Huckaba, and Ella Morgan, great-aunt; Cinda Moore, and cousin; Jacob Pruitt.
