Marcia Lee Wharton's Obituary
Marcia Lee Pujol Wharton, 72, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Decatur, IL.
She was born in Tuscola, IL, on September 13, 1953, to the late Robert E. Pujol and Ernice M. Collier Pujol. She worked for many years as a dietary aide at Eastern Star Home of Macon. She was a member of Macon First Baptist Church for many years and enjoyed participating in ministry work both by traveling for missionary projects as well as going to local nursing homes for group devotionals.
Marcia had a servant’s heart and loved to take care of people. She was always happiest when she could find a way to make someone else’s life easier. Whether that was housesitting, stopping by to care for someone’s pets, or spending time watching over a sick friend, she was happy to do any of it.
A talented seamstress, Marcia loved to make gifts for her family. From clothing to travel bags, she could do it all. She also spent time teaching children’s sewing circles, using her skills to help the next generation sharpen their own. While she was very active, she always slowed down to spend time with her family. She enjoyed going shopping with her daughter and watching her nephews and grandchildren grow.
Marcia will be remembered as kind, loving, caring, and sweet. She will be deeply missed.
Those left to cherish her memory include: children, Chris Wharton and Dawn Stanley; sister, Janice Broughton and husband Michael; grandchildren, Hunter, Cheyenne and wife Karen; nephews, Jacob and partner Keith, Phillip and wife Gina; great nieces and nephews, Crosby, Colin, Cameron, and Lara; and her “comfort dog” and guardian, Harley.
